ABOUT

The club was established in 1969 when Harry Crutchley and small group of enthusiasts in the Stafford and Stoke areas of England began to meet and cater for pre 1956 MGs in an effort to maintain and preserve the cars for which Abingdon was traditionally renowned.

The objects of the club were to promote social and sporting meetings for the benefit of members, provide members with information, advice and assistance and generally to help further the interest in the preservation and renovation of MG cars built prior to 1956.

The membership of the club grew quickly and sub-groups formed throughout the world to organise local meetings for members catering solely for pre 1956 MGs.

The club is run by enthusiasts and volunteers who are happy to help in areas such as car valuation, DVLA applications and general help with pre 1956 MGs.

An important aspect of the club is provision of a wide range of parts at competitive prices. If you are looking for something particular that isn’t on our parts list, please ring the spares line and we can help you source what you are looking for. We only sell spares to current club members.

Our magazine, the Bulletin, is sent out 11 times a year to all of our members. It contains a wide range of feature articles, technical tips, photographs, car adverts and event reports. This publication is at the heart of the club and the common link (apart from their cars) between members. We love to hear from our members and encourage article and photo submissions for the Bulletin.

Regular events are organised throughout the year, from single day runs to weekend trips. The club also participates in major classic car shows throughout the year such as Beaulieu International Autojumble. Stay tuned to the ‘What’s On’ page in your Bulletin for the latest events and shows near you or contact us directly.
